About CBWLA's 2026 Luncheon Speaker & Woman of Distinction

Anna Vasquez served nearly 13 years for a crime she never committed nor ever occurred.  Ms. Vasquez, Kristie Mayhugh, Cassandra Rivera and Elizabeth Ramirez, commonly known as The San Antonio Four, were accused of sexual assault of Ms. Ramirez's young nieces.  All four women were openly out as lesbians, a fact that colored the investigation and subsequent trials.  They spent over 22 years fighting for their innocence.  In 2016, Ms. Vasquez was finally exonerated.

Today, Ms. Vasquez is the Director of Outreach & Education for The Innocence Project of Texas.  She is dedicated to sharing her experience in the hopes of improving the justice system and preventing similar occurrences.
